Solo – a novice soloist who has never competed a solo before but could have competed in a duet/trio/group
Duet/Trio – two or more of the dancers must have never competed in a solo/duet/trio before to compete in the novice division
Group/Line – 90% or more of the dancers must have never competed
Dancers performing in the "Classic" level must take fewer than 7 hours of classes weekly and are limited to a maximum of 8 routines per competition.(Note: Since NO competition can possibly know how many hours a child dances, how many years they have danced, or the degree of competition experience, Studio Directors are left to their own judgement when placing in this division.) ALL DANCERS IN A CLASSIC PEICE MUST MEET THE 7 CLASSES OR LESS REQUIREMENT.
IMPORTANT RULE TO AVOID PENATLY AND POSSIBLE DISQUALIFICATION:
You May not Compete in both levels. If you are in an ELITE Group, your solo must remain ELITE or Novice if it is your first solo ever (doesn't matter the discipline). Same as for CLASSIC. If you are in a CLASSIC Group, all your other routínes ie Solos, Duets/Trios must remain Classic or NOVICE if it is your first solo ever (doesnt matter the discipline).
**Once you compete Elite in your lifetime as a dancer you cannot move back to the Classic Level even if you dance fewer hours.
VERY IMPORTANT NOTE:
Classic is reserved for the less experienced dancer and not to be mistaken for a dancer with a lot of past experience just less time in the studio this season.
Dancer’s performing in the "Elite" level are dancing more than seven hours per week. This is the "Competitive" Level dancer
For any routine where a teacher is dancing with student(s). ALL SOLOS DUETS AND TRIOS that have a teacher (even if a part time teacher) competiting in this routine, it must remain PRO-AM even though the group number with the part time teacher can remain ELITE.
dancers who have graduated from high school and are paid for performing and/or teaching as a major source of income. However, teachers who are STILL active on a competitive team within their studio may compete in the ELITE competitor division (this division mainly applies to student teachers. A director/co-director or full time teacher at a studio MAY NOT COMPETE IN THE CLASSIC OR ELITE DIVISIONS, THEY MUST ENTER IN THE PRO-AM DIVISION IF DANCING WITH STUDENTS OR THE PROFESSIONAL DIVISION IF THEY ARE DANCING SOLO). If a teacher is in a group and NOT active on a competitive dance team this will cause the group will be moved to the PROFESSIONAL OR PRO AM category with the exception of PRODUCTION.
